A Standard Visitor Visa allows a stay of up to 6 months per visit. Most first-time applicants are granted a visa tied to the trip they described, but frequent travellers, such as parents visiting children in the UK or people on recurring business trips, may be better served by a long-term visit visa valid for 2, 5 or 10 years, which still permits 6 months per visit but saves reapplying each time.
The UK sits outside the Schengen Area and outside the EU. If your nationality requires a UK visa, you need one regardless of what else is in your passport. This is the misunderstanding that sends people to an airport they will not fly from, and it is the first thing we settle.
An Electronic Travel Authorisation is what non-visa nationals need instead of a visa, not as well as one. Which situation you are in depends on your passport, and it is worth being certain before you pay for anything.
The 6-month limit applies to each visit rather than to a rolling period, so it is a different rule from the Schengen 90-in-180 one people often assume applies here. What it is not is a residence permit: repeat visits that add up to most of a year invite the question of whether you are really visiting.
Which visa is granted, and for how long, is decided by the Home Office on your individual application and travel history. We’ll advise on realistic expectations once we review your circumstances.
A UK visit visa is decided by UK Visas and Immigration, part of the Home Office, with no connection to the Schengen system. Applications are made online, then completed in person at the UK visa application centre in your country, where your fingerprints and photograph are taken and your documents are handled. Our London team prepares the file, coordinates with your UK host where there is one, and stays with you until the decision.
Most decisions arrive about three weeks after biometrics. Time you’ll spend on your visa paperwork with us: about 20 minutes.

We establish which route you actually need, starting with whether your nationality requires a visa at all, an Electronic Travel Authorisation instead, or nothing beyond your passport. That answer depends on citizenship, not on where you live.

The warmest, brightest stretch of the year, with long evenings and festivals in every city. It is also peak season for prices, for crowds and for visa processing queues so it is the window that most rewards applying early.
Mild days, autumn colour across the countryside and far shorter queues at everything. Flights and hotels drop noticeably from September, which makes it the best-value window for a first visit.
Gardens and countryside at their best, with comfortable walking weather and prices still below the summer peak. Easter is the one short spike to plan around.
Short days and plenty of rain, but the lowest prices of the year, Christmas markets, and museums and galleries you can actually move around in.
Britain’s weather is changeable rather than seasonal, so timing is really a question of daylight, crowds and price. The paperwork is the harder constraint: decisions typically take around three weeks after biometrics and slow in peak season, and you can apply up to three months before you travel, so starting three months out is the comfortable position.

It depends on your nationality. British and Irish citizens never need one. EU, EEA, US, Canadian, Australian and many other passport holders do not need a visa for a short visit, but they do now need an Electronic Travel Authorisation. If you hold a passport from a visa-required country, you need a Standard Visitor Visa, and that is who this service is built for.
Yes, and it is one of the most common reasons people come to us. You deal with us here in the UK, we prepare your invitation letter and the evidence of your status and accommodation, and we guide your relatives through their application and biometrics appointment in their own country. You do not need to be a British citizen to invite someone, but your own immigration status is part of the evidence.
No. The UK is outside the Schengen Area and has been outside the EU since 2020, so a Schengen visa does not admit you. If your nationality requires a UK visa, you need a UK one regardless of what else is in your passport.
No. An Electronic Travel Authorisation and a visa are alternatives, not a pair. If your nationality requires a visa, that is what you apply for. If it does not, an ETA is normally what you need instead. Buying the wrong one is a common and avoidable waste.
Decisions are usually made within about three weeks of your biometrics appointment, though it can run longer in peak periods. Priority and super priority services are available at extra cost in many countries. Our own side takes 7–15 working days to have the file submission-ready.
Up to 6 months per visit. Long-term visit visas valid for 2, 5 or 10 years exist and are worth considering if you travel regularly, but they do not extend any single stay beyond 6 months.
The application fee is set by the Home Office, is paid directly to them, and is reviewed periodically. We confirm the current figure for your route before you commit to anything. Our service fees are separate and depend on the package you choose, from £99 for documentation only to £299 for the full service.
There is no right of appeal for a refused visit visa. The realistic option is to apply again, addressing every reason given in the refusal, which is why a refusal is expensive in time as well as money, and why getting the first application right matters so much.
